Day 28 – Into the Future
Since Time Travel is the focus for the next 3 days, I figured I’d talk briefly about my upcoming new trilogy. This is a concept I’ve been throwing around since August of 2000. I kept putting it aside until it felt right. Now’s the time. The CONTINUUM trilogy will include time travel. Each novel will utilize it in different ways. The logo depicted above is the emblem on the flag of the Continuum group. Here’s the three books (the first of which will be coming in February of 2017.)
A COURSE FOR HUMANITY will begin in the future, where an organization known as Continuum will witness the end of their reality. They must break the rules of never utilizing time travel to go back and correct the event that leads to the annihilation of planet Earth. Their only hope may be the man they fear the most, but can he be trusted?
THE THIRST OF CAIN will find a sole survivor of a forgotten organization traveling into the past to assassinate the world’s most evil person who has ever lived. In each time period he finds that he must travel back further for the answer on how to eliminate this seemingly immortal being. Will he make the ultimate sacrifice to stop the threat?
CONSUMED BY WAR will close out the trilogy. One man who has gained the secret to eternal youth is equipped with the knowledge of every historical event on Earth. Beginning at the start of humanity’s rise to power he must survive each era while protecting the secrets that would destroy civilization itself. Can he prevent the world from being erased before it has time to begin?

Interview: PANDORA’S CHAOS TRILOGY
The following is a compilation of some of the most frequently asked questions I’ve received from people in reference to my PANDORA’S CHAOS TRILOGY. I figured it was time to post them up as the next book will be ready soon. Enjoy and feel free to ask any additional questions in the comments below. 🙂
Q: How does this trilogy stand out from the last?
Rick: Like the Star Wars saga, I tend to think of this as a starting point for newcomers to my work. Books 4-6 are really well written in comparison to the original three because of what there was to work with. It is a lot easier to be more creative with ghosts, demons and technology (the focuses of the novels in Pandora’s Chaos), than it is with zombies, vampires and werewolves (books 1-3 in the Eden’s order trilogy). I wrote it in a way that anyone can jump in from this as a starting point and when it grabs their attention there would be two reactions. If the reader enjoys what they see here, then it will not only compel them to want to see what happens in the next trilogy, but also what happened before book 4 that established this world.
Q: Are you always writing in trilogies?
Rick: I think that is the most logical approach, yes. I’ve always loved a good series. The problem is finding a part for people to start. Someone might get turned off if they find out there are multiple books and they’re already 6 novels behind. The purpose of trilogy writing is multiple… I can focus on a new antagonist throughout, and have separate threats that are secondary antagonists in each novel. Sure you can read just any individual novel of it, but it really feels fuller with all three. I won’t always write in trilogies, but for this it seems fair.
Q: Where will the next trilogy take us then?
Rick: Into the future. There is a twenty five year gap between books 6 and 7 in order to introduce a mostly new cast. The past novels have happened and there will be references, but only when necessary. GENETIC MORSELS is going to enable me to do more creatively while building on an already existing world, and yet keeping it fresh and new.
Q: What is your take on Pandora’s Box and the whole Atlantis angle you’ve included?
Rick: Without giving too much away Atlantis has always been fascinating to me. There is so much that we don’t know about the history of mankind and I wanted to touch on that. I believe that every legend begins with a certain truth. My own ideas for stories are based on realistic things that have occurred in my own lifetimes, so incorporating that with the past really gives me a lot of working room. There had to be something opposite to the order established with the Garden of Eden in the first three novels, so when I wanted a source for chaos I immediately knew Pandora’s Box would be the thing to do just that. My take on it is completely unique to those prior, but still keeping true to what the original idea was.
Q: With your next trilogy taking place in the near future, what will you call it? What will it focus upon?
Rick: I have a few ideas about what to call the trilogy as a whole, but nothing definitive at the moment. I currently have the rights to my ideas in book 7 and book 8 which will focus on the next step in human evolution and aliens respectively.

Q: Is it impossible to tie up every loose end? There are a few characters who I wonder about their fates.
Rick: Nothing is impossible, but in order to keep new novels fresh I don’t like to include every little thing that may have gone untouched. Take the fate of Cain. I like to leave that open to the reader to have their own thoughts. It isn’t necessary for me to go back to a place I’ve already been without having really good reason. I try to eliminate the reader question of “what if?” as often as I can. Mostly there are no loose ends. Each trilogy ties it up fairly well. For those things I left open, well I reserve them for the comic book spinoffs.
Q: In the Eden’s Order Trilogy there was a timeline and the graphic novel spinoff stories as bonus content. What are the extras included in this trilogy?
Rick: As I did in EDEN, I included the novelized stories that are and will be in the comic book spinoffs, plus three new additional stories. They are all short and are just meant to be supplemental material. Instead of a timeline with this one, I included a “document” that drops a hint as to what the main antagonist (I won’t say who here) is trying to do in book 7.
Q: I understand that you won some awards for this trilogy. What was that like?
Rick: I was blown away. I received extremely positive reviews on SOULS 4 SUPPER and it took the trilogy to new heights. It moved me from non placement on the independent author chart into the top 100… then two weeks later I had been moved into the top 25 of authors. I’m still on an adrenaline rush and am so thankful for all of the feedback and people who made this possible through support and word of mouth.
Q: What is the symbolism behind the cover art?
Rick: When I approached my brother (Dan Pipito) to do the cover art, we discussed how we could represent all three book themes as well as the underlying plot of it all. The look of an ancient sculpture came to mind, with modifications. In its chest you can see what is my version of Pandora’s Box. Emanating from that is a greenish mist that represents the souls within it. If you look at the wings behind the statue one is feathered and one more like a dragonfly. This is to represent the angels and demons. Finally, the sculpture itself is very mechanical looking with seams and rivets in places, which is where the technology is represented. It is a simple piece with many complexities hidden within (much like the mysteries revealed within the books).

I figured since it is getting closer to Halloween, I should make a quick list of the current publications I have and a brief idea as to the summary of them.
The Novels:
FLESH AND LEFTOVERS: While zombie incidents plague the world, the survivors must unite to prepare for a much bigger threat.
BLOOD, THE SECOND HELPING: Vampires have been a thing of legend, but throughout history they’ve played an important role. Now a team of humans who have survived horrific incidents must seek out the vampire lord and destroy his clan.
BONES AT BREAKFAST: A sinister villain has evolved into a creature beyond imagination. With his army of werewolf servants and allies, he will attempt to reshape the world in his image.

Pandora’s Chaos Trilogy
THE PANDORA’S CHAOS TRILOGY contains the previously mentioned three novels in my 31 Days of Halloween: SOULS 4 SUPPER, DEVIL’S DESSERT, and TECHNO FEAST. It also has the added bonus of the novelized stories that are contained in the graphic novel spinoffs: GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS, DEMONIC ENTITIES, and FINAL UPGRADE.
To counter the order from the first trilogy, these three separate installments focus on the results of opening the fabled Pandora’s Box. It is a complete counterbalance to the results of the first set, and now there is a new series of events culminating from that. With order there must be chaos, but what is “chaos” really?
I wanted something different for the portrayal of the container. Research about the story of Pandora and different takes on it was a lot of fun for something that was just an underlying theme. Creating the characters of Gilgamesh and Pandora’s other associates at the time of the box’s creation felt right. Perhaps this box existed. Every legend has some roots in truth, so Atlantis seemed like an appropriate place to hide the Temple of Pandora.
The architects designed the box and the temple to prevent anyone from accessing what is inside. Is it truly chaos? Well that depends on the point of view of the individual. A little hint. It safely contains a rip in the very fabric of space that is a gateway to the afterlife. Imagine the entities that could emerge from such a hole or a full bodied person leaping into it. It’s pure terror.
Aside from the aqueduct, maze, and puzzle solving that would go into unlocking the box, Pandora’s box is unique in design (and for reason that you can find out in the first of these three books SOULS 4 SUPPER). It is shaped like a pyramid that unfolds through a series of gears and intricate mechanical pistons. (Special note: the gear design was actually an add on by my brother, Dan. When he did the artwork I mentioned what it would look like in the book, and he added to it, so it made the description even better).

31 Days of Halloween: Day 4 is here and we bring the best of all three previous days together.
THE EDEN’S ORDER TRILOGY contains FLESH AND LEFTOVERS, BLOOD THE SECOND HELPING, & the BONES AT BREAKFAST novels. Like a boxed set, I wanted to include some extras, so also within are the novelized versions (without pictures) of the comic book spinoffs: ZOMBIE INCIDENTS, LEGENDS OF VAMPIRE, & IN CASE OF WEREWOLF.
So why is it called that name? Well without giving too much away, the Garden of Eden becomes the central focus of what this trilogy is building to. The antagonist, Cain, believes that finding this lost place will bring his type of order to the planet, while the protagonists feel that the unknown is too risky.
The Garden of Eden was supposed to have been a place of pure nirvana. We didn’t have to work for our food, and life was eternal. Our mistake banned us from there, but what happened to Eden? It had to be somewhere on earth right? And if we found it again, then would the peace and order become ours again?
A problem that is often found with the “truth” is that often the facts lead to more questions, so regardless of what happens as a result of such an action, there would be more that comes with it. Zombies, vampires and werewolves are the focus of the first three novels, but the underlying plot as a whole all boils down to this place. It puts in question everything we know and think we know. Getting people to think of the “what ifs” regardless of their beliefs or lack thereof, was my goal.
