On the 5th Day of Christmas…
ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME… 5 DEMON SPAWNS!
Okay, so Christmas is not about demons at all, but my novel DEVIL’S DESSERT or its spinoff short DEMONIC ENTITIES make for great gifts. This was perhaps the most extensive research I’ve had to do for any of my books because I wanted to respect all faiths. I spent months reading the various main texts and made notes comparing them. There were so many similarities among them that I even went back further into polytheism and saw a common origin point. It is quite intriguing to say the least. Depicted on the left is Anneliese Michel. She died at the age of 23 with the causes believed to have been demonic possession. Look up her story as it is too much to post here. Do you think she was possessed or had some sort of mental disease?
Order a copy of my novel or short for yourself or a friend. If you want personalized copies then shoot me an email (Rickpipito@hotmail.com), otherwise they can be purchased in print or digital at Lulu.com or on Amazon.
Day 5 – Bones At Breakfast
Day 5 of #scrypthalloween takes a look at my novel BONES AT BREAKFAST. This book proved to be more of a challenge to write than the prior two because I felt limited by the subject. I thought it was difficult to make it feel grounded, but then decided that by explaining the origins of mythology and fairy tales I could make it work. It became my easiest book to write. @dpipito did this cover art (sans text) to keep with the theme of the trilogy…….
official description: Gordon Lightcap and his team are caught in an uneasy alliance. By working alongside Russian General, Alexander Putski, they hope to stop the forces that Cain left in his wake. Unbeknownst to them however, is the fact that Cain is still alive. In his new form, he is an even greater threat than before and one step closer to his goal. #werewolf #werewolves #novel #novels #eternalhungersaga #scryptpublishing #book
Shifting Gears: A book release update
2017 has been extremely interesting and productive so far, but it also has forced me to alter the schedule a little in terms of my novels and books. This is actually for the better, as there will be more projects released, but focuses on shorter stories so that the longer ones can have more time to develop. Here’s what is currently in progress and estimated release dates:
THE THIRST OF CAIN – Book 11 in the Eternal Hunger Saga is being pushed back from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018. I decided to use more historical events to make this feel like a direct sequel to BLOOD, THE SECOND HELPING and A COURSE FOR HUMANITY; as well as being a great stand alone entry. This means much more research of course, so in order to not rush the final product I’m taking my time to properly represent historical events in different eras.
DIGESTED CONCEPTS – This won’t be released until 2019, but I began work on it now. I’ve gone through and reread all of my previous novels to touch on each concept in them. This will be a non-fiction companion book to the series. It will go through a behind the scenes look at what’s in the saga from the start of my writing career to the end of the Eternal Hunger Saga (including details on all 12 novels, spinoff short stories, and the trilogy releases)
THE LOST HOUR – A short story spinoff of A COURSE FOR HUMANITY, which will delve into the back story to the first successful trip through time, and dealing with the consequences. This will be released in late October of this year.
UPSIDE DOWN DAYS – My daughter came up with an amazing story for a children’s book, so I’m working with her for a November release of this year. She’s hashed out the plot and I’m helping tweak the story and write it. She will also be illustrating the pages, and I couldn’t be more excited to do this with her.
THE LOST DAY – A short story spinoff of THE THIRST OF CAIN, that will be released one month after the novel next year. It will touch on an event mentioned in the main story, but not actually featured.
There is of course a plethora of other things in the works, but to which I can’t yet go into detail. Feel free to share your current projects and stay tuned.
Day 7 of #authorlifemonth – Cover Inspiration
The cover for my upcoming novel A COURSE FOR HUMANITY is better understood when reading it, but for the design I was inspired by this sculpture in Washington DC. It is called “Continuum” and couldn’t be more appropriate, as that is a government entity within the novel. Book will be released in March 2017.
2017 and prosperity
The new year is upon us, and with it there are more opportunities to thrive. Here’s what I have planned for the next twelve months:
A COURSE FOR HUMANITY – This novel begins a new trilogy about time travel. The characters within will have to learn who they can trust in order to stop the tampering of the time line. If they fail, then the future of humanity may come to an abrupt end. This book will be released in early March 2017.
BEYOND HUMAN TRILOGY – Also coming early 2017 is the trilogy that will include all three novels, and their short story spinoffs. GENETIC MORSELS, PLANET ATE, & DEVOURED UNIVERSE are the novels, and EVOLVED MUTATIONS, ALIEN ENCOUNTERS, & COSMIC ORBITS are the short stories.
THE THIRST OF CAIN – This novel takes place immediately after A COURSE FOR HUMANITY, and will see a man attempt to alter history for his own sake. Cursed with being a vampire, he will seek out the first of his kind and attempt to destroy him in the past. If he succeeds then his curse could be eradicated. But what lines will he have to cross, and how can he possibly kill someone who is immortal? This will be released in September of 2017
A LITTLE BOY IN THE LAND OF THE SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS – The long awaited children’s book will be set in the same world as A LITTLE GIRL IN THE LAND OF THE HICCUPS, but this time will be geared towards a young male audience. As soon as the art for this is finished it’ll be released. We are looking at sometime in the first quarter.
In addition to these four releases, I’m also hard at work co-writing a murder mystery thriller and outlining a new horror novel. I’m sure there will be a few other things in there too, but these are the definite ones. What do you have set as a goal in 2017?
Looking back at 2016
2016 has been an interesting year to say the least. From blockbuster movies, to political controversy, to new trends it’s been quite a wild ride. I’d like to take a moment to look back at what sCrypt Publishing has done throughout the year, as well as other ventures in which I’ve been involved.
In March I took conspiracy to a whole new level. I had so much fun researching alien and UFO conspiracies to create a novel that may have been my favorite to write. PLANET ATE was published and brought in a mostly newer cast of characters to deal with something that raised many questions about the history of mankind.
Immediately after finishing that novel I jumped into writing DEVOURED UNIVERSE. This was my first full on venture into the sci-fi genre. In it I wrote out a character who has been a fan favorite for a few years. It was hard parting ways with said person, but I wouldn’t let them go out without a bang.
After reaching the far edges of the cosmos I toned it down and decided to release the full on text versions of my earlier graphic novels, as well as putting out some new short stories as spinoffs. It turned out to be a great way to market to people who hadn’t checked out my work, but also a way to let the fans read more of what occurred during my main stories. Those shorts were: ZOMBIE INCIDENTS, LEGENDS OF VAMPIRE, IN CASE OF WEREWOLF, GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS, DEMONIC ENTITIES, VIRAL UPGRADES, EVOLVED MUTATIONS, ALIEN ENCOUNTERS, and COSMIC ORBITS.
That’s nine short stories in all with much more to come, as I’ve got lots in the works (I’ll save that for another post).
On the publishing front though, we did hit a snag with A LITTLE BOY IN THE LAND OF THE SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS. The artwork was delayed due to Dan hitting a couple of snags, and me doing rewrites. We want the story to be done right, so hang in there. It is still coming very soon.
Then of course there has been the debut of my web series Think, Sip, Write. It has been gaining popularity and I cant thank people enough for their interest in it. I have tons of topics in which I plan to talk, but this year will close out with a full 20 episodes making their way onto you tube. And of course I’m open to suggestions for topics as well. From the Fountain of Youth to Holiday shopping I like to cover whatever influences me to write and enjoy life.
Finally, amidst all of that I’m hard at work on my other things, and continue to assist my wife with her cooking and food coverage. Roberta has been busy writing for the Food Network Blog, as a contributor for Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia show, numerous appearances on the Dr. Oz show and other TV programs, writing for magazines, cooking amazing food, test driving cars and reviewing places and products…. I mean I could keep going on how much this woman does. If you aren’t following her, I recommend checking out her work on Twitter and IG @homemadedelish, on facebook as Roberta Pipito, and at her site http://www.homemadedelish.com.
As we wind down for the year and welcome in a new one I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and outstanding New Year. Thanks for the support and for following.
Now that I’m done with my coverage, what were some of your accomplishments this year? Please comment and share with us some of your work. Feel free to put your links to your websites or social media for others to see.
Day 28 – Into the Future
Since Time Travel is the focus for the next 3 days, I figured I’d talk briefly about my upcoming new trilogy. This is a concept I’ve been throwing around since August of 2000. I kept putting it aside until it felt right. Now’s the time. The CONTINUUM trilogy will include time travel. Each novel will utilize it in different ways. The logo depicted above is the emblem on the flag of the Continuum group. Here’s the three books (the first of which will be coming in February of 2017.)
A COURSE FOR HUMANITY will begin in the future, where an organization known as Continuum will witness the end of their reality. They must break the rules of never utilizing time travel to go back and correct the event that leads to the annihilation of planet Earth. Their only hope may be the man they fear the most, but can he be trusted?
THE THIRST OF CAIN will find a sole survivor of a forgotten organization traveling into the past to assassinate the world’s most evil person who has ever lived. In each time period he finds that he must travel back further for the answer on how to eliminate this seemingly immortal being. Will he make the ultimate sacrifice to stop the threat?
CONSUMED BY WAR will close out the trilogy. One man who has gained the secret to eternal youth is equipped with the knowledge of every historical event on Earth. Beginning at the start of humanity’s rise to power he must survive each era while protecting the secrets that would destroy civilization itself. Can he prevent the world from being erased before it has time to begin?
New heroes, new villains, and a familiar past make the future something worth looking forward to.
What are some of your favorite time travel stories or related things? Make sure to hashtag #scrypthalloween and you may win a copy of one of my novels!
Day 27 -Inspiration in Space
I can’t say I’m a hardcore science fiction fan, but there are some franchises that I have the utmost respect for when it comes to space exploration. Those are what inspired me to write my novel DEVOURED UNIVERSE, and its spinoff short COSMIC ORBITS.
When I say I can’t stand Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY, I mean it. It was a horrifically slow movie that didn’t do the book justice at all. Arthur C. Clark’s novel was much more entertaining, and holds a top place in my list of epic science fiction in space. It had 3 sequel books: 2010 ODYSSEY TWO, 2061 ODYSSEY THREE, and 3001 THE FINAL ODYSSEY. Although outdated in terms of mention of year, it isn’t as far fetched as it seems. If you’re a fan of the movie (or not) then I recommend checking out the books because they are much better. The unlimited potential of outer space is depicted in a way that really makes you want to know what is out there.
Next up is the ALIEN franchise. Sure, there are countless books and comics based on the series, but I’m referencing the main films. ALIEN, ALIENS, ALIEN 3, & ALIEN: RESURRECTION fell victim to the sequel not being as good as the preceding entry, but that said, they are still fantastic movies. I would count the two ALIEN vs PREDATOR movies, but since that includes the PREDATOR franchise I’ll refrain (Predator is also a series I love, but that’s going off on another). The prequel movie PROMETHEUS is getting a follow up called ALIEN COVENANT. So far so good with those. What makes these movies great isn’t the characters as much as it is the threat of such a frightening alien.
A series that has fans always in anticipation of the next release is STAR WARS. In all honesty I love the main films, but the spinoff series, cartoons, and books never grabbed my interest. Let’s face it… what makes this franchise great is the heart of the story. Don’t hate me fanboys and girls… I’m just seeing it from a writing perspective. The core here is good vs evil.. There really is no in between in this saga, but that’s what makes it so good. Each chapter holds its own, even though the prequels were widely hated by fans. They really aren’t bad when it comes down to it. We’ve got a handful of them: THE PHANTOM MENACE, ATTACK OF THE CLONES, REVENGE OF THE SITH, A NEW HOPE, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, RETURN OF THE JEDI, THE FORCE AWAKENS, and episode 8 and 9 coming as well as some crucial backstory starting with ROGUE ONE. Since Disney has taken over it seems to be headed in the right direction, and will hopefully expand to include a simpler, yet less two dimensional narrative.
The other fan eager series is STAR TREK. We’ve got The ORIGNAL SERIES, THE NEXT GENERATION, DEEP SPACE NINE, VOYAGER, ENTERPRISE, and the new series DISCOVERY. Like Wars, Trek’s spinoff novels and comics do nothing for me, but the movies have been hit or miss. THE MOTION PICTURE, THE WRATH OF KAHN, THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK, THE VOYAGE HOME, THE FINAL FRONTIER, THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, GENERATIONS, FIRST CONTACT, INSURRECTION, NEMESIS, STAR TREK, INTO DARKNESS, and BEYOND all have a way of telling a much broader story. Trek has a way of displaying how vast the universe is, and how each different race perceives and handles events.
My goal was to incorporate what was best about all of these: The vastness of the universe, a frightening alien threat, characters that are cared about, and various stances on how things should be handled. DEVOURED UNIVERSE really utilizes these to tell a fresh new type of story that closes out a trilogy and sets way for a future cast to deal with something beyond.
So what are some of your favorite space related or alien movies, films, TV, drinks, food, games, etc etc? Make sure to hashtag #scrypthalloween and you may win a copy of one of my novels.
Day 19 -Genetic Morsels
To me the definition of a “freak” is someone who is extraordinary either physically or by ability. My novel GENETIC MORSELS focuses on people like that, but is based on real life physics. Think something along the lines of super heroes and villains, but not in a comic book world. Throw in corrupt politicians, and a desperate few trying to expose the truth, and you’ve got one wild ride.
For the cover of the book, Dan Pipito created a geneticist’s chalk board. It leaves some hints as to the content in the pages, but remained simple and true to what this book is about.
Twenty five years have passed since a war with artificial intelligence has forever changed the course of humanity. Belief in the first world leader has been gained by the majority, but there are a few who can see past the media bias. As President Jason Black’s scheme unravels, the next step in human evolution begins. A passing of the torch to a newer generation of unexpected heroes occurs as they mount a resistance into the political fray. Led by Zoe Omandi the team is guided into dealing with not only their conflicting personalities, but also their extraordinary abilities.
GENETIC MORSELS is available at lulu.com in print and on Amazon.com in digital.

Day 13 – Devil’s Dessert
What can be more frightening than demons? For this installment in #scrypthalloween I decided to focus on my novel DEVIL’S DESSERT.
The cover done by Dan Pipito depicts three artifacts crucial to the novel’s plot. The Crown of Thorns, The Sword of Eden, and the Spear of Destiny. When the ancient battle between Heaven and Hell comes to Earth, humanity is disposable at best. The forces of Light and Darkness prepare for their final battle here, but for humanity to survive they must open their eyes to the truth.
Individual religions must sift through the teachings that are wrong, and find a common ground in all faiths. Only then will the people of Earth know what it will take to survive this godly war, and drive the demons back to their own realms.
While all of this is happening one lost soul will journey into the depths of the afterlife to exact his own revenge.
This was one of my favorite novels to write, and took countless hours of research to do so. If you like Dan Brown’s novels, then I highly recommend this one. It’s got the mystery and history with lots of action and a frightening look at reality.
What are some of your favorite demon or angel stories? Make sure to #scrypthalloween if you post on it, and you may win a free copy of the book!
Day 7 – Bones At Breakfast
Werewolves are the focus for the next 3 days in #scrypthalloween. So, for today I’m taking a look back at my third novel BONES AT BREAKFAST.
Gordon Lightcap and his allies are forced to work with a Russian government, who has their own agenda. Their common goal is to end the goals of a madman once and for all, but the threat has taken a deadlier form. Backed by an army of werewolves, their target Cain employs a plan to uncover the lost Garden of Eden. But at what cost? In a frantic race across the globe, can Lightcap and his team stop Cain from unveiling something humanity was banished from long ago? There are reasons the truth remains buried…
BONES AT BREAKFAST is available in print at lulu.com and in digital form on Amazon.com

Day 1 – Flesh and Leftovers
Day 1 of #scrypthalloween is zombies, so my first post will be my first novel. FLESH AND LEFTOVERS brought together multiple types of undead lore into what became the beginning of a long journey for Gordon Lightcap.
In the novel, Lightcap and Moira Donatelli recruit survivors of various zombie incidents in order to assemble a team to take on a bigger threat than just the walking dead.
