Poll: Unpredictable Imps

DC COmics Mr. MxyzptlkIt’s been awhile since we’ve done a comic book battle.  This time we bring in possibly the most difficult of battles yet.  DC Comics has Mr. Mxyzptlk, Marvel’s imp is Impossible Man.  Classics Illustrated Junior has properly portrayed Rumpelstiltskin.  And Finally, sCrypt Comics has Djinn.  Below is a brief description of each character.  Vote for your favorite below or add your own worthy competetor.

Mr. Mxyzptlk (pronounced Mix-yez-spit-lick according to Superman the Animated Series) is an imp from the 5th dimension, who enjoys pranking Superman and the residents of Earth.  He has the ability of reality manipulation, and is not bound by 3rd dimension rules.  Basically, he can do anything imagined.  His only known weakness is to get him to say his name backwards. impossible Man - Marvel Comics Once that is accomplished, he is banished to the 5th dimension for 90 days before being able to come back to our world and begin his pranks again.  He first appeared in Superman #30 in 1944.

Impossible Man has been at ends of the Fantastic Four as well as Silver Surfer and others over the years.  He is an asexual alien race called the poppupians, and although he is not particularly a villain, his childish actions often make him appear that way.  He has the ability to rearrange molecules to any way he wants, teleport, and shapeshift, giving him the nickname of Impossible man.  He first appeared in Fantastic Four #11 in 1963.

rumplestiltskin Classics Illustrated JuniorThere are many variations on the story of Rumpelstiltskin, but recent adaptations have described him as a dark lord that is able to spin gold from straw.  He has a tendency to make deals with people for something in exchange, but it always has a price.  The deals always work out to his advantage and not to the person making the deal with him.  He has virtually limitless magical abilities, and a wicked agenda.  His notable comic book appearance was in Classics Illustrated Junior #512 in 1967.

Finally, Djinn was an Arabian thief who was caught stealing from a King.  When the residents of Atlantis made a deal with the King, Djinn had his soul extracted and placed within a magical lamp.  The longer Djinn remains in the lamp, the greater his power becomes.  It is only when one rubs the lamp that he is temporarily released from his Djinn concept art for sCrypt Comics - Artist Kelly Swannconfines and must expend some of this energy.  He does so in the form of a wish, but the wish has unforseen consequences, and unless worded absolutely correctly to detail, something always goes unexpected.  Djinn first appeared in “Souls 4 Supper” the novel, and is illustrated by artist Kelly Swann in “Souls 4 Supper: Ghostly Hauntings.”  (artwork above is the first concept art done by Kelly Swann in the coming graphic novel)
