#scrypthalloween – 2017 posts and giveaway
I will be posting with the hashtag #scrypthalloween each day with some facts about my books and more. If you post something you like (Halloween costumes, movies, or whatever you’d like) and tag me with the same hashtag then you will be entered to win one of my giveaways. The more entries the better your chance. I will choose three winners on Halloween for a digital download of one of my #book trilogies. That includes 3 novels and 3 short stories together! Get creative and best wishes. Sharing this post also gets you an entry.
Day 9 – Werewolf Influences
While writing BONES AT BREAKFAST and its spinoff IN CASE OF WEREWOLF I was faced with some interesting obstacles. I feared being able to pull it off in a way that would be unique to the lore, but remain truthful as well. I revisited some stories from the past to see what they’d done, and made sure mine was something fresh and new. Some of those influences are listed here.
Stephen King’s Silver Bullet was a great book. It’s one of the first full novels I read at twelve years old, and it gave me nightmares for weeks. I still recall the feeling of dread I had during those long restless nights.
Sega Genesis was a 16 bit gaming system that broke ground with some revolutionary gaming. Its first game was called Altered Beast. In it you were a Greek like god that had the ability to “power up,” and when you did you’d become closer to gaining the were powers of a wolf, bear, dragon, and more. It’s still the coolest werewolf video game of which I know.
The Wolfman 2010 got scathed in the reviews it received, but for someone who is a huge fan of the original Lon Chaney Wolfman movies from the late 30s, it holds a special place in my heart. It was a decent update to an old classic, and to me is highly enjoyable.
While I am writing I like to have a sip of something full of flavor, but relaxing. Werewolf wine was good the first time I tried it, and I actually found this updated art bottle this week at the wine store. It’s semidry with a bold kick.
What are your favorite #werewolf things? Please share and hashtag #scrypthalloween.
31 Days of #scrypthalloween
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. It is the one time of year where we can be anyone we want by donning costumes and enjoying Autumn. This year to celebrate, I want EVERYONE to get involved in this social media fun.
Oh, and did I mention that there will be giveaways for the ones I feel are the best? Extra points for costumes inspired by my books. 😛
Here’s what to do. Each day there will be a topic. Post anything you want on that topic. For example, you can see that days 1-3 are about zombies. That means you have 3 days of posting anything zombie related. It can be your costume, your favorite book, movie, news article… anything you want!
When you post, make sure to tag me on social media @Rickpipito and I’ll retweet or share. Also, don’t forget to use the hashtag #scrypthalloween.
Let’s get this going to see how many people we can get involved. I will be using it for promotional purposes, but also to share my favorite things. Here’s the list of what to post on what dates. Any questions feel free to ask. It starts October 1st, and here’s a breakdown of FAQ:

**Winners of the giveaways will be contacted throughout the entire month of October.
