Think, Sip, Write: ep 19 – 2016 In Review
Roberta joins me once again in my latest episode of #thinksipwrite. Here we have a fun chat about some things in 2016. What were your favorite moments that we missed? Feel free to comment.
Looking back at 2016
2016 has been an interesting year to say the least. From blockbuster movies, to political controversy, to new trends it’s been quite a wild ride. I’d like to take a moment to look back at what sCrypt Publishing has done throughout the year, as well as other ventures in which I’ve been involved.
In March I took conspiracy to a whole new level. I had so much fun researching alien and UFO conspiracies to create a novel that may have been my favorite to write. PLANET ATE was published and brought in a mostly newer cast of characters to deal with something that raised many questions about the history of mankind.
Immediately after finishing that novel I jumped into writing DEVOURED UNIVERSE. This was my first full on venture into the sci-fi genre. In it I wrote out a character who has been a fan favorite for a few years. It was hard parting ways with said person, but I wouldn’t let them go out without a bang.
After reaching the far edges of the cosmos I toned it down and decided to release the full on text versions of my earlier graphic novels, as well as putting out some new short stories as spinoffs. It turned out to be a great way to market to people who hadn’t checked out my work, but also a way to let the fans read more of what occurred during my main stories. Those shorts were: ZOMBIE INCIDENTS, LEGENDS OF VAMPIRE, IN CASE OF WEREWOLF, GHOSTLY HAUNTINGS, DEMONIC ENTITIES, VIRAL UPGRADES, EVOLVED MUTATIONS, ALIEN ENCOUNTERS, and COSMIC ORBITS.
That’s nine short stories in all with much more to come, as I’ve got lots in the works (I’ll save that for another post).
On the publishing front though, we did hit a snag with A LITTLE BOY IN THE LAND OF THE SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS. The artwork was delayed due to Dan hitting a couple of snags, and me doing rewrites. We want the story to be done right, so hang in there. It is still coming very soon.
Then of course there has been the debut of my web series Think, Sip, Write. It has been gaining popularity and I cant thank people enough for their interest in it. I have tons of topics in which I plan to talk, but this year will close out with a full 20 episodes making their way onto you tube. And of course I’m open to suggestions for topics as well. From the Fountain of Youth to Holiday shopping I like to cover whatever influences me to write and enjoy life.
Finally, amidst all of that I’m hard at work on my other things, and continue to assist my wife with her cooking and food coverage. Roberta has been busy writing for the Food Network Blog, as a contributor for Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia show, numerous appearances on the Dr. Oz show and other TV programs, writing for magazines, cooking amazing food, test driving cars and reviewing places and products…. I mean I could keep going on how much this woman does. If you aren’t following her, I recommend checking out her work on Twitter and IG @homemadedelish, on facebook as Roberta Pipito, and at her site http://www.homemadedelish.com.
As we wind down for the year and welcome in a new one I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and outstanding New Year. Thanks for the support and for following.
Now that I’m done with my coverage, what were some of your accomplishments this year? Please comment and share with us some of your work. Feel free to put your links to your websites or social media for others to see.
Plans for 2016
It’s been a crazy few months here, so I’ve slacked on posting updates. I apologize for that. Here’s an update of my current projects and what is coming in 2016 and beyond.
PLANET ATE – The 8th standalone novel in my ongoing series starts off with a bang and will raise many questions as to our human history. It will look at various alien encounters and UFO incidents, plus inspiration from real life events, the Bible, and more. This is perhaps my favorite installation yet and was so much fun to write. Its in final stages now and will be available in January 2016.
A LITTLE BOY IN THE LAND OF SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS – My next children’s book will bring Dan Pipito back for his watercolor expertise. This time it will be geared towards boys and has been written for my son. Look for it in the Spring of 2016.
(WORKING ON TITLE) – This will be the final book in my Beyond Human trilogy and conclude the main series taking Gordon Lightcap on one final adventure. While it closes the doors of the past, the future will be opened to do much more, so look for a new chapter to open. This will be released in Fall of 2016
As always, thank you for your support. I will continue to be active on social media and update here as often as I can. There are a few other projects in the works, but we are keeping them tight lipped for now. Have a happy new year! – Rick Pipito
