March 2012 Artist of the Month: Leanne Wiedmeyer
March has begun, and with it we bring the next sCrypt Comics’ artist of the month. Leanne Wiedmeyer realized she had a talent for drawing in 10th grade math class, and from that point on, the artwork hasn’t ceased. With dreams of illustrating album covers for metal bands, she attended Bucks County Community College for Graphic Design/Illustration. Then after a small enlistment engagement in the United States Air Force, she continued her art education at the Art Institute of Philadelphia majoring in Traditional and Computer Animation.
She landed a job apprenticing airbrush design under Rob Skinner at Franklin Mills Mall (which she ABSOLUTELY LOVED!!!!) She worked in NYC, at Curious Pictures during their production of “Sheep In The Big City”, and also helped as a Production Coordinator at a company called Funny Garbage, which did a lot of computer animation shorts for Cartoon Network.com. After 9-11, employment in any art field became scarce in NYC, and she decided to move back home to Bristol, Pa, where she painfully worked as Graphic Designer for a year. The job was great but creatively dead. That’s when she found a second love in Veterinary medicine, with on-the-job-training to be a Veterinary Technician.
Leanne continues to draw and airbrush as much as she can, focusing on portraitures and illustrations for local metal bands. She currently has work in two completed Graphic Novels with sCrypt Comics, (Flesh and Leftovers: Zombie Incidents; & Blood The Second Helping: Legends Of Vampire) and is now working on their third (Bones At Breakfast: In Case Of Werewolf). Lastly, she is also working on an individual project depicting Lilith and other Demonized Women of Power of world religions. Leanne can be contacted at: firstname.lastname@example.org
